Who We Are

We are working together to be like Jesus & to help others become like Him.

Our Vision

We will develop people who radically impact the world for Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

We will create relational environments where disciples of Jesus are made.

Team Definitions

Church is a Team Sport. In team sports, it's important that every player knows what winning looks like! These definitions help us define winning together.

Our Key Definitions

Vision –

God-sized. Bigger than us. Beyond our ability or control. God must be the One to bring it about.

Mission –

God’s invitation for us to align ourselves with His vision. Marching orders from King Jesus. How we put our hand to the plow.

Disciple –

Our definition of the word disciple comes straight from Matthew 4:19
He said “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

A disciple is someone who is following Jesus,
is being changed by Jesus
and is committed to the mission of Jesus.

Church –

The Greek word for church is “ecclesia” and literally means “those who are called out by God.” The church is not a building or a weekend event. We are the church. We are the ones who have been called out by God.

Spiritual Maturity –

Jesus defined spiritual maturity when He said, “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.” To grow in spiritual maturity is to become like Jesus and help others become like Him. In scripture, there are stages of spiritual growth – just like there are physical stages of spiritual growth. Our church covers those stages in 201, 301, 400, and other development courses and trainings.

Real-Life Relationships –

A real-life relationship is where I give you the right to know everything about me, and you give me the right to know everything about you. We work together to be transparent and form real-life relationships in our small groups.

Our Key Phrases

“Discipleship is better caught than taught.”

“Discipleship is a team sport, church is a team sport, following Jesus is something we do together.”

“Discipleship is not just what we do, it is who we are.”

“Come and see.”

“There is God’s part, my part, and their part.” God always does His part, they must do their part, I am responsible to do my part.

“Go with the goers.”

“We will fight for relationship.”

“The biblical foundation for disciple-making culture is love.”

“Put God’s Word in your head so He can move it to your heart and your hands.”

“God’s Word is the final authority for what we believe and practice.”

“Move at the speed of relationships.”

Foundational Elements of an Effective Discipleship Group

Our small groups care for one another, but we are not care groups. Our small groups fellowship together, but we are not fellowship groups. Our small groups study the Bible together, but we are not just Bible study groups…

Our small groups are disciple-making groups.

Here are four foundational elements of an effective disciple-making group:

  1. Biblical Foundation – knowing God through His Word will be central in our meetings, conversations, and the final authority for what we believe and practice.
  2. Intentional Leader – a more mature disciple of Jesus who facilitates meetings and leads the team to work together to create a culture where disciples make disciples.
  3. Relational Environment – a place where people form real-life relationships, become transparent, and learn to operate in love.
  4. Reproducible Process – two parts: 1) the process in scripture by which disciples of Jesus grow in spiritual maturity, and 2) a plan for facilitating disciple-making meetings that anyone can learn to lead and duplicate with new people in new places.

We provide in-depth training for these elements through hands-on practice in small groups, in 301 and every year at 400 (our most in-depth discipleship & relationship experience).

Our Statement of Purpose

From our constitution and bylaws: "The purpose of Together Church is to glorify God and fulfill the great commission given in Matthew 28:19-20. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (KJV). We do this by practicing New Testament forms of evangelism, by teaching and mentoring each believer to be a disciple of Christ, by strengthening families, and by supporting Christian laborers throughout the world."

Our Beliefs

We consider these biblical truths to be essential because they unify believers in Christian fellowship. For the sake of Christian unity, it is our position that every member of Together Church agrees with these biblical truths. If you have any questions about one of these beliefs, please write it down and ask your class leader for clarification.

GOD

We believe there is only one true God, existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-eternal and co-equal from all eternity, each with distinct personalities but of one essence.

BIBLE

The Bible is verbally inspired by God in its original writings, is truth without any mixture of error, and is the sole rule of faith and practice.

MAN

Adam was directly created in innocence and in the image of God and was not evolved from pre-existing forms of life.

By voluntary sin, Adam fell; and thus the whole human race is now sinful by nature and choice and, therefore, under just condemnation to eternal separation from God.

JESUS

Jesus Christ is the risen Son of God who entered into the world through the Virgin Mary, living among us without sin as perfect man and perfect God.

He shed His blood on the cross as a vicarious substitute for all sinners, was buried and rose again bodily, and ascended to the right hand of God the Father, from whence He will personally return.

SALVATION

Men are justified by grace through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ without any mixture of works.

HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit convicts the sinner; regenerates; sanctifies; indwells the believer; and fills the believer for effective service.

PRIESTHOOD

We believe in the priesthood of the believer and that God has made provision for each believer to be victorious over sin by being led of the Spirit and not walking after the flesh.

JUDGEMENT

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost – the just unto the resurrection of life eternal and the lost unto the resurrection of eternal damnation, separation from God.

SATAN

Satan is a personal being, and hell is a place of eternal, conscious punishment for him, his hosts, and all unbelievers.

SECOND COMING

We believe in the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His Church.

CHRISTIAN LIVING

We believe Christians are commanded by Scripture to abstain from all forms of compromise with unbelief. The Bible sets forth principles of Godly living, and we must learn to follow these principles to both avoid and refute the false teachings and false concepts of our day.

Christians are commanded to follow biblical methods of discerning, exhorting, warning, and reproving those who violate or reject the principles of Scripture.
